FareShare Sussex has the joint aims of alleviating poverty, reducing food waste and supporting volunteers. It offers a practical solution to the problems of poverty and food waste, whilst offering a route back into work or training for disadvantaged adults through its volunteer programme. It works by redistributing surplus food from the food industry to organisations working with homeless and vulnerable people across Sussex. They support a range of vulnerable client groups including homeless people, low-income families and people with a history of substance misuse, through organisations such as drop-in centres, food banks and hostels.

Sussex 4×4 Response is a registered charity & volunteer organisation that offers a variety of services to Local Authorities, Emergency Services and other Agencies. This includes providing reliable transport in times of severe weather (Snow, gales, heavy rain and floods) and any other major emergencies in Sussex. This can be to transport essential personnel or supplies to areas that would be hard or impossible to reach in normal vehicles and/or in support of local authorities rest centres. We also provide mobile marshals for sponsored walks and other charity events. Across the country there are at least 21 Response Groups.

At Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, their aim is to improve the lives of sick children throughout Sussex. They are the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) where they raise money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, while ensuring that children are treated in an environment better suited to their needs. We also support the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU) based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and its sister site, the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. They believe no matter where they are, children should always be allowed to be children.Rockinghorse do not receive any government funding and so rely on the generous support of individuals, community groups, companies and trusts; people like you.

Established in 2002, Maternity Worldwide is a Sussex based charity which saves lives in childbirth in low-income countries by training local medical staff, empowering women to become decision makers about their own health, providing maternal healthcare to rural and remote communities and improving access to health facilities. Our vision is of a world in which all women and their babies can access safe and appropriate childbirth regardless of where they live.

Jigsaw (South East) is a local charity based in East Grinstead that supports children who have been bereaved of a close family member or are facing the loss of a loved one. Our Grief Support and Preparing for Loss projects support children and young people aged 5-16 across Surrey and parts of West Sussex.
Our Grief Support Groups give children the opportunity to take part in activities designed to help them build positive memories of their loved one, manage their grief and develop ways of coping with their loss in the future. Where a family has someone with a life-limiting illness and a short prognosis, our Preparing for Loss team provide dedicated 1:1 support to the children in the family to help them through this difficult time.

Each year the hospice delivers specialist palliative care to over 2,000 people with advanced life-limiting illnesses, as well as supporting their carers and families.
